On 1st January, by 9 am (EST), new applications will be approved for the two Canada Caregiver plans, which include the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot. Under these two pilot projects, about 5,500 requests are expected to be approved for fresh presentations in 2024.
Furthermore, the highest number of candidates under these programs is divided into two classifications: direct entry in PR and obtaining skills. Again, Canada has reduced the one-year least work skills conditions for in-nation caregivers looking for permanent residence. Previously, caregivers in Canada were required to possess two years of skills to make an application for PR status.

Canada Caregivers Program
Under the double 5-year pilot plans, the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot, eligible household members and caregivers can arrive in Canada on a work permit to acquire PR. Candidates must possess an employment offer from a Canadian household to apply for any of these plans, and a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is irrelevant.
Due to the notification of an employment offer, eligible candidates may apply for a profession-limited work permit, go on a trip to Canada, and obtain temporary employment to acquire skills. These candidates may present a request for PR after receiving 12 months of skills in Canada. You can make an application for PR via one of these pilot plans if you have been provided a role as a caregiver in Canada or if you possess previous skills operating as a caregiver in Canada.
Professions Qualified for the Canada Caregiver Program
If you have been employed in one of Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) full-time jobs, you can use your employment skills for PR.

Home Child Caregiver With NOC 44100
- You are required to care for kids in your own home or your employer’s home
- The place of work is not supposed to be an organizational environment that includes a daycare
- You are not required to settle in your employer’s home to be qualified
- Skills as a foster parent are not required.
Home Support Employee With NOC 44101
- You are required to care for an individual who requires assistance from a home support employee in your employer’s home
- The location is not required to be an organizational environment such as a nursing home
- You are not required to settle in with your employer in his home to be eligible.

Type of Job Offer Required for Canada Caregiver Pilot Programs
You must possess an actual and accurate job offer to start or conclude the work skills needed for PR via the Home Child CareGiver or Home Support Worker Pilot. No LMIA or LMO is required to make an application for care provider programs.
Your provided role must be full-time with at least 30 hours of reimbursed labor every week outside of Quebec from a Canadian person or household who is not a firm, a consulate, a high commission, or an embassy. This employment offer must be prolonged using the Offer of Employment IMM 5983 form. This form can only be made available on a desktop after downloading it.
It must be from a valid source, demonstrating an absolute necessity to employ you, maybe for their care or another person, such as a parent, child, or partner. The immigration unit in Canada assesses the income that your employment offer states. It must indicate that being employed as a care provider in Canada will permit you to keep a steady monetary condition for yourself and your household.
How to Apply
You can use the official IRCC direction for home child caregivers and home support employees to be prepared for 1st January based on your condition. The online application pathway through the new PR portal is where qualified persons can present their requests.
